This trip ended up amazing, but we had a few scrapes and bruises before we arrived in Central America. I’ll start this post out with the issues we encountered and end with the actual details of this beautiful country. So if you’d like to skip the issues we had with traveling scroll past the horizontal bar 😛 Where the disaster began… Flew out of O’Hare to Miami and had a slight mechanical delay. Unfortunately, there was a storm, so the Miami airport closed just as we were arriving . Therefore, we had to land in Ft. Myers and wait until it reopened to fly back to Miami. This was an extra hiccup to the start of our trip …. Then, we landed and found out our flight to Belize left 15 minutes early! Who does that?! Tip 1: Never be first in line for re-booking after a missed flight We […]
3 Days in Banff, Canada
The minute I saw a picture of Moraine Lake in Banff, I knew I had to go there. I booked everything last minute, and was extremely excited to learn that the lake had thawed about a week before our arrival. Off we went… We started off the trip on the wrong foot from our plane ride to our car rental fiasco. Our plane was delayed getting to Chicago ~2hrs so instead of arriving around 10:30pm on a Thursday, we landed around 12:30am on Friday. Though customs was a breeze at that time, the walk to the rental car office was a long one. DON’T RENT YOUR CAR FROM AVIS! >:( Once we got the Rental Car office, we rented our car from Avis (which was a terrible experience and I’ll never use that company again. Please choose another rental company if you don’t want to deal with their poor customer […]
10 Things You Need to Know for Oktoberfest!
Oktoberfest is an exciting and wonderful time of year even if you don’t like drinking beer. Out of the 5 days I was in Munich, I went to Oktoberfest for 3 days, and it was hard to stay away for the last 2 days. 1. Dirndls First of all, Dirndl’s ladies. I would suggest buying an authentic Dirndl in town instead of the cheapest one you can buy on Amazon. It’s an entire experience from picking it out, trying them on in the dressing room, and learning how to properly tie your bow if you are single v.s. married. I bought a very nice authentic one for 120 euros, but they have plenty of good looking ones for around 70 euro. The non-authentic ones are anywhere from 10-30 euros, and are usually silky. There are shops everywhere, so you don’t even need to google it– Just walk around the city […]
